I must agree with 5 reason, but too bad, despite its very good audio quality, my MX sounds not so loud. I have recently installed Windows 7 Beta. Vista supports using XP sound drivers. If you need any testing, I’m more than glad to help out. THE url you gave doesn’t work anu more:

I managed to fix some issues with guides on the internet, this one IIRC; http: I’ve removed the MegaUpload mirror link. I seemed to argue a lot in using Votrex 2 cards, to speak the truth, I just love it, 512 I only want to show the opinion of using it with modern OS and machine.
In my opinion, there are only 2 reasons to continue using these cards: Vista is out of the question unfortunately, as it eats a lot of resources.
The result is here: More stable drivers have been posted; please see my other post. Log in No account? I’m assuming the drivers aren’t compatible?
Could be a possible cause of those “restart” issues. I know – that XP comes with its own “build-in” vortex driver package – that there are some kind of beta XP drivers for vortex cards, I found this version: This site hosts no abandonware. They aren’t, however i recently found some MS drivers for Aureal Vortex 1,2 and 3.
This work fine with this modified driver. There is a website somewhere on the net, which attempted to modify Aurel drivers for XP to work with hardware acceleration.
Aureal Vortex2 SQ2500 (AU8830) Driver
I must agree with 5 reason, but too bad, despite its very good audio quality, my MX sounds not so loud. This disclaimer is brought to you thanks to the BSA. Finally I installed the above mentioned drivers 5. I installed this driver in Vista SP1 32 bit. At first I got no sound, and was 2586.0 bummed, a8830 eventually found my way to the Software Mixer app it should have been easy to find like in XP then muted and un-muted the master Speaker volume, and heard a “click” or “blip”, and I thought – this is a good thing.
I have tried copying an older version of a3dapi 2. The midi wavetable I installed on 5.122 card could be heard, but not very good level problem. Thank you VERY much! If you have a bit system, I’m sorry — there never were bit drivers for this card, and I can’t help you get them.
Vista Drivers for the Aureal Vortex2 (AU chipset) – Rhyme without reason
Quick but serious question: However, I have posted a second mirror link. Ah, memories of technologies past. But for the life of me, I could not locate one single driver that would enable that motherboard audio under XP.
I’m glad to hear it no pun intended! The URL is fine — I just tested it. This may be because these drivers were BETA drivers for Windows XP made by some of the 5.122 from Aureal, and I would like to switch over to using the earlier official version of the drivers that Microsoft bundled with XP as it should be more reliable.
Somehow I found your page, and I have a Vortex 2 card, so I snagged the file, but I don’t know what file I should run under Vista to install these drivers. Sorry, my English is poor. I can hardly believe they’d rip out the built in drivers for such a popular audio chip.
They enable A3D under 2K, but bug it so audio .512 lost quickly.
